Thanks to a generous grant from the Truist Foundation, the first cohort of Project Management in Prathertown (PMP) has officially completed their training! This powerful group of emerging leaders spent time building the skills needed to earn their Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification while also completing Montgomery County’s Community Planning Academy.
Equipped with new tools in budgeting, scheduling, and team coordination, these participants are now bringing their talents home—strengthening Prathertown through hands-on community projects. From improving food access to tackling environmental health concerns such as radon, lead, and asbestos, their work blends professional growth with meaningful neighborhood impact.
The next phase of the program focuses on building a community greenhouse, a project that these newly trained project managers will plan, organize, and implement from start to finish. The greenhouse will serve as both a sustainable food source add a space for education on environmental stewardship.
We invite you to celebrate their achievements and learn more about their projects on May 16th!
The next PMP Cohort will also begin documenting historic homes in Gaithersburg Maryland, preserving stories and structures that trace back to Prathertown’s founding in 1883 by emancipated persons. Their research will support ongoing efforts to ensure that this landmark community’s history and identity are protected for generations to come. Interested in becoming the second cohort?
